Born in Kiel in 1967, the doctor took over as head of the Institute of Forensic Medicine at Berlin's Charité hospital in 2007. A year later, his first of many columns appeared in the Berlin Tagesspiegel newspaper under the title ‘Professor Tsokos Investigates’. His first book, ‘Dem Tod auf der Spur’ (On the Trail of Death), provided the basis for the subsequent series adaptation on Sat.1. Together with Jan Josef Liefers, he reported on his forensic investigations and the true circumstances behind some mysterious deaths in the RTL series ‘Obduktion’ (Autopsy) and ‘Todesrätsel’ (Death Puzzles).
With numerous assignments in Cameroon, Brazil and Kosovo, Michael Tsokos was also in demand as an expert abroad. He is now embarking on a major tour of Germany with his lecture series ‘Phänomen Forensik – Faszination Rechtsmedizin 2.0’ (The Phenomenon of Forensics – The Fascination of Forensic Medicine 2.0). In the Olympiahalle, the best-selling author, who is also known as the ‘Master of True Crime’ in the German thriller scene due to his numerous fiction novels, provides remarkable insights into authentic cases that he himself has investigated over the past decades.
